RILIS.ID, Jakarta — Papua NKRI Solidarity said that West Papua separatist groups were riding racism issues behind the vociferous of #BlackLivesMatter with #PapuaLivesMatter on social media (social media), in the last few days. The goal is to release “Bumi Cenderawasih” (West Papua and Papua provinces) from Indonesia.
“The case of racism in America is not the same as Papua. Don’t bring the case up and make Papua worse,” said the Coordinator of Papua’s Solidarity of the Republic of Indonesia, Robert Rolan Ricardo Imbiri during the peaceful protest in front of the Horse Statue of Arjuna Wiwaha, Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/15/2020).
He continued, West Papua separatists also began to become active speakers in a number of online discussions. He gave an example the invitation of representatives of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP), like Markus Haluk, as a guest speaker. “In fact, they are clearly utilizing the Papua issue for personal funding,” he said.
Papuan people, added Robert, support Indonesia, love peace, and respect the legal process. Therefore, asking all parties not to intervene in the cases of seven political prisoners (tapol) who were undergoing trial in East Kalimantan. Let it run according to the procedure.
“If we all want to discuss racism as fairly as possible in relation to the case of 7 prisoners being tried, let us fight aloud based on the rule of law. Do not intervene, do not divert the issue towards supporting separatism in the country,” he explained.
Meanwhile, other representative of Papua NKRI’s Papua Solidarity, Edo Suabey, asked all Papuan people living outside Papua and West Papua provinces, such as DKI Jakarta, to continue their activities as usual. Not provoked by the #PapuaLivesMatter issue.
“Because without our awareness, the KSB (armed separatist group) as a cold-blooded terrorist group is currently looking for support in the guise of the people’s struggle,” he stressed.
Demonstrations took place since 13.30 WIB and followed by hundreds of masses. A number of participants brought action equipment, such as the Red and White flag and a banner reading “Do not intervene in legal cases, Papua is peaceful”.
