Wamena (ANTARA) – The Government of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua began on Monday (10/8) to station a health team at Sentani airport to prevent corona patients from escaping the examination and flying to Wamena Airport in Jayawijaya.
Jayawijaya Regent Jhon Richard Banua said in Wamena on Sunday that the eight-member medical team would be assisted by the TNI / Polri while on duty at Sentani Airport, Jayapura.
“On Monday, (10/8) the team has started to be in Sentani to prepare for the rapid test check stage on Tuesday (11/8) because flights to Jayawijaya are starting to open on Thursday (13/8),” he said.
Jhon admitted that he had coordinated with the Jayapura Regency Health Office and the Papua Provincial Health Office regarding the placement of the Jayawijaya Health Office team at Sentani Airport.
“So if there are special passenger candidates to Jayawijaya who are reactive when being tested in Jayapura, they cannot go, and we provide an introduction to the Provincial Balkes to do a swab,” he said.
The opening of the Jayawijaya health post at Sentani Airport indicates that passenger flights to Jayawijaya which were closed on July 27 have already opened.
“We will open it starting on August 10 tomorrow. So maybe there are special chartered planes that want to enter, please, but for regular passenger planes it will start operating on Thursday (13/8).
The government has also arranged schedules for two airlines operating to Jayawijaya, namely Trigan Air and Wings.
Trigana Air operates every Monday and Friday. Meanwhile, Wings is scheduled to operate every Tuesday and Thursday.
“All passengers destined for Wamena who are not rapid with our officers at Sentani Airport, cannot board the plane because in Wamena we will not do any more checks,” he said.
Head of the Jayawijaya Health Service, Doctor Willy Mambieuw, said that the eight medical personnel who will be stationed at Sentani Airport consist of doctors, analysts and nurses.
“We have a total of eight health workers. There are seven who leave tomorrow Monday for Jayapura because the other one is already in Sentani,” he said.
Willy said the team will be in Jayapura for two weeks and then replaced by a new team from Jayawijaya. “Two weeks we are rolling,” he said
