Timika (ANTARA) – The Mimika Regency Transportation Agency, Papua Province, this year has resumed construction of the passenger terminal building on the south side of Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport.

Mimika Transportation Agency Head Jania Basir told Antara in Timika, Monday, that this year the Mimika Regency Government will complete the roof repair work, the installation of the first floor toilet walls and repair stairs.

“For the continued work of the passenger terminal building on the south side of Timika Airport, which is the responsibility of the Mimika Regional Government, has been going on for two months. This year we will also complete the parking lot so that the terminal building built by the Ministry of Transportation can be used immediately,” explained Jania.

He said all the Mimika Transportation Agency programs continued as usual, even though currently activities at the Mimika Transportation Agency Office were closed (employees working from home) because five staff were known to have been exposed to the new corona virus.

“There are no obstacles, everything goes as usual, be it services at the UPTD Dishub offices or project work at Timika Airport,” he explained.

Jania Basir herself has just been appointed as Head of the Mimika Transportation Agency since July 17, 2020 by Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng replacing Yan Selamat Purba.

The Mimika Regency Government itself has allocated a budget of IDR 258 billion to complete the construction of the passenger terminal building on the south side of Mozes Kilangin Timika Airport which will be carried out for three years or multi-year until 2022.

The signing of the contract for the construction of the South side Timika Airport terminal building adjacent to the passenger terminal building built by the Ministry of Transportation was carried out some time ago witnessed by the Head of the Timika State Prosecutor’s Office, Mohamad Ridosan.

The first floor work is handled by PT Panca Duta Karya.

Especially for this year, the budget disbursed is around Rp. 35 billion from the overall plan of Rp. 98 billion.

Unlike the Timika Airport passenger terminal building which was built by the Mimika Regency Government, the passenger terminal building built by the Ministry of Transportation which is located side by side is actually almost complete and ready to operate.

Currently, the UPBU Mozes Kilangin Timika is still waiting for the verification process for the Timika Airport passenger terminal building by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation before the operation is inaugurated.
